Marietta Fire Department wins first Marietta Softball Classic

On April 27th in Marietta, Georgia, the brave men and women of Marietta Fire, Marietta Police, Smyrna Police and Smyrna Fire squared off in the inaugural Marietta Softball Classic.  The charity tournament event, hosted by 6-4-3 DP Athletics at Aviation Sports Complex in Marietta, benefitted the following charitable organizations:

Fire Safety Village

Families to Families

Smyrna Police Explorer Group

Smyrna Public Safety Foundation

Congratulations to the Marietta Fire Department who claimed the 2013 tournament championship by beating the Marietta Police Department in the final game.  Congratulations also to all participants who helped raise a combined $1,500 for charity through the 2013 Marietta Softball Classic.  As a result of the standings, $750 will be donated to the Fire Safety Village on behalf of MFD, $375 to Families to Families on behalf of MPD, $225 to Smyrna Public Safety Foundation on behalf of SFD and $150 to Smyrna Police Explorer Group on behalf of SPD.

A special thank you goes out to Champions Fastpitch Academy for providing umpires for the Classic.  Also, thanks to Firehouse Subs (Marietta Parkway) for donating boxed lunches to assist the fund raising effort.  In every way, the 2013 Marietta Softball Classic was a successful event and we look forward to planning the 2014 charity tournament!
