This past weekend, 15 pitchers combined to give up four total
runs (only two earned) and lead 6-4-3 DP Baseball to a 4-0 record
and take the championship title in the Georgia Stars Mothers Day
Woodbat Round Robin Tournament held at Duluth High School.
Offensively 6-4-3 had many bright spots including 17U Jaguars new
comer, Tyler Prescott, who was 3 for 3 with 3 doubles in his first
ever start, Will Hudgins who launched a tape measure blast through
the trees, and Blake Cairnes who was 3 for 3 in the championship
(while also closing out the final game on the bump). Also,
the defensive effort of the 6-4-3 squad was on display all weekend
and was led by Alex Murfin and John Melson in the middle, Alex
Garland and Nate Williams at first base, all outfielders, and the
solid catching corps (Thomas Gaines, Michael Branigan, Charlie
Madden, Campbell Toye, Holt Davis) that let almost nothing by them
and discouraged base runners from stealing.
Coach Danny Pralgo commented on the weekend, “It was fun being able to join our 17 & 18 year old guys together as we wait on other players that are still having their playoff run. We wish them all good luck as they continue to get closer to the dream of a high school state title!”
Congratulations to the combined squad of 6-4-3 DP Cougars and Jaguars (17 & 18U) on a fine, summer season, opening weekend.
