Former 6-4-3 DP Baseball student-athlete, Josh Merrigan, has committed to play baseball at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill this upcoming year. Merrigan is a rising junior, transferring from Chipola Junior College. His outstanding talents showed at Walton High School in Marietta, Georgia, where he was a four-year letterman and recognized for many outstanding achievements. He was a 2012 All-County Selection, Georgia Dugout Club Honoree in 2011 and 2012, two-time Georgia Dugout Club Outstanding Season award recipient, Georgia Underclass Top 100 Prospect, and Walton’s Offensive MVP as a junior. He also achieved the 6-4-3 Offensive Player of the Year during his time here at 6-4-3. The young outfielder continued his outstanding career at Georgia State University his freshman year. Merrigan shattered all but one of GSU’s freshman records, making his season the best freshman season in GSU history. He achieved many honors at GSU: Freshman All-American, All-Conference Rookie of the Year, Top Freshman in the Nation, NCBWA Freshman All-American Second Team, Colonial Athletic Rookie of the Year, Second Team All-CAA, CAA All-Rookie Team. Not only did he accomplish this on the field, but he also made the Dean’s List his spring semester. Merrigan then transferred to Chipola Junior College for his sophomore year. He thrived in centerfield and on the left side of the plate, having a fielding percentage of .947 and a batting average of .358. He looks forward to playing for UNC Chapel Hill during his junior year. 6-4-3 remains proud of Josh and his many accomplishments and we wish him the very best as he continues his successful baseball career in Chapel Hill.
