6-4-3 DP Jaguars (9U) win 10U Tournament in Acworth

6-4-3 DP Jaguars (9U) win 10U Tournament in Acworth

The 6-4-3 DP Jaguars (9U) traveled to Acworth on June 29 and 30 to compete in a 10U Champs Wear the Rings Tournament.  After losing the first pool game to the NYO Stallions by the score of 4-7, the Jags went on to defeat the Hopewell Hawks by the score of 6-0.

On Sunday, the 9U Jags defeated the Hobgood Fury by the score of 6-3 on a late inning double by Jarrett Hanley.  In the second bracket game the Jags beat the SBA Scorpions by the score of 9-6 to advance to the championship.  Facing the Panthers from Smith Station, Alabama, the 9U Jags had their hands full.  Although the game was an offensive battle, the Jags defense came through time after time also.  The game was exciting and dramatic to the very end.  With two outs in the fourth inning and the Jags down by three runs, Nick Jones stole home on the pitcher to close the gap (score 4-6). Going in to the bottom of the last inning and down 6-8, the Jags battled back to tie the score 8-8.  With two outs and the bases loaded, Bryce Hickman drove in Cameron Olterman for the win, a 9-8 victory.

This was the Jags fifth tournament championship of the year, along with three third place finishes and a second place finish.  The Jags are heading into the USSSA AAA World Series next week in Stockbridge for their last tournament of the year.  Best of luck to the 9U Jags as they continue a strong finish to their 2013 summer season!
