Congratulations to the 13U Jaguars players and coaches for finishing runner-up in the 2014 Triple Crown Fall Frenzy tournament. The 13U Jaguars started out the weekend with a 1-1 record in pool play, losing to the Diablos Gold by the score of 4-10 and winning by the score of 6-5 against the East Cobb Yankees.
The Jaguars landed with the 7th seed in the ten team tournament putting their first game against the Atlanta Blue Jays. Josh Peljovich started on the mound for the Jaguars hurling an impressive four innings of work while allowing only two runs. An offensive burst by the Jaguars in the 2nd inning scored nine runs and ultimately led them to their victory by the score of 12-2. Camden McNearney closed out the game on the mound for the Jaguars.
The quarter finals matched the Jaguars with a familiar team from pool play, Diablos Gold. Right hander Mylan Wigley was tapped as the starter for the Jaguars. The Jaguars got going early scoring one run in the first inning. The Diablos would answer back in bottom of the second inning tying the score at 1-1. The Jaguars answered back in the third inning with big hits from Jax Warshaw, Jackson Brown, and a RBI ground out by Jackson Roberts that put the Jaguars in the lead by a 3-1 score advantage. The Diablos tied the game in the fifth (score 3-3) but could not hold the Jaguars back in the sixth inning. The Jaguars had a huge two out rally started by William Lybrook working a walk, followed by a single from Jax Warshaw, and then a bases loaded double by Jackson Brown that cleared the bases to put them in the lead by the score of 7-3. Caden Mcphee came in to pitch for the Jaguars in the third inning and shut the door by not allowing an earned run. With a final score of 7-4, the victorious Jaguars would move on to the semifinals.
The semifinals matched the Jaguars against the Alabama Stars. Ian Campbell, a crafty left handed pitcher, got the start on the mound as the Jaguars continued their tournament run. Campbell pitched an impressive four innings of work allowing two runs. Camden McNearny played spectacular defense in centerfield coming up with some impressive catches and throwing out a runner at the plate. The Jaguars were led offensively by Jackson Brown and Mylan Wigley who both went deep for the Jaguars. Hayes Edmond also had a nice day at the plate going 1-2 and contributing an RBI. Ty Floyd would pitch the final three innings to close out the game while recording three strikeouts and allowing zero runs as the Jaguars won their third straight by the score of 10-2.
The Jaguars would advance to the championship game and face Rawlings Baseball. Despite Rhett Hammontree's effort on the mound, the Jaguars fell short and finished as runner up in the Triple Crown Fall Frenzy tournament.
